Project Overview: Empowering Immigrant Youth through Media

Our project, driven by the EU’s commitment to “Inclusion and Diversity,” aims to uplift economically and socially disadvantaged youth, particularly those with a migration background in Turkey and Austria.

Objectives:
1. Equip immigrant youth with essential technical skills in the media sector.
2. Enable young immigrants to produce news and express themselves using digital media tools.
3. Enhance employability prospects in the media industry for participating youth.
4. Foster research initiatives in media-related fields among disadvantaged youth.
5. Facilitate collaboration between disadvantaged youth and media professionals, journalists, universities through training sessions, workshops, seminars, and online debates.
6. Develop policy recommendations for media inclusivity targeting disadvantaged youth.
7. Provide accessible and free media and communications courses.

Activities
– Online Programs: Interactive online sessions providing foundational media knowledge and skills.
– Vienna Workshops (June): Five days of intensive training, cultural excursions, and networking in Vienna. (Dates to be finalized).
– İstanbul Workshops (September): Another five days of immersive experiences, training, and cultural activities in İstanbul. (Dates to be finalized).
– Cultural Excursions: Engaging participants in local cultural experiences to foster cross-cultural understanding.
– Networking Opportunities: Connecting participants with media professionals, journalists, and organizations for collaborative opportunities.
– Accommodation and Transportation: All expenses for accommodation and transportation during workshops and excursions will be covered by the project.

Target Participants
– Youth with a migrant background in Istanbul/Turkey and Vienna/Austria.
– Ten individuals per partner (seven youth aged 18-30 and three youth workers) with an interest in media.
– Gender equality will be ensured, with no discrimination based on social, cultural backgrounds, or disabilities.
– Encouraging participation from those facing disadvantages such as immigration, financial constraints, and language barriers.

Participant Criteria
– Undergraduate, graduate, doctoral students, or post-doctoral researchers.
– Preferably possess prior knowledge or experience in media fields.
– Active involvement in media-related activities or policy creation is preferred.
